Home Theft Prevention – Your Garage Door Clicker
I am constantly amazed at how much effort a person will put into protecting their home from theft and then do something that completely sabotages it! They might leave doors or windows cracked open or the infamous act of leaving a key under the front door mat. One might as well leave a big “rip me off” sign on the front door!
Well, garage door theft prevention is a similar proposition. Many people have learned that leaving their garage door open is an invitation for someone to rob them. It might be a simple robbery where someone swipes something out of The Garage or something far worse where the scumbags enter the house and actually hold you up. Closing an automatic garage door takes care of this problem.
There is one other area, however, you need to be cognizant of – your clicker. Many of us have more cars than we have garage space. As a result, we park one outside. If you leave a clicker in that car, you are asking for trouble. This is particularly true if you leave it where someone can see it.
So, what happens? Well, thieves have started breaking into cars, swiping the clickers and then reading the registration information to see which home the car belongs to. They then walk up to that home, use the clicker to open the garage and stroll right on in to peruse your valuables!
Times are tough in this economy. This means a rise in crime. Be smart when it comes to protecting your home and stuff. Don’t let your garage door clicker become a free entry card to your home for a thief.

How do i program My Garage door to open to the punch pad and a remote?
I have a clicker and a keypad that i want both to work with the garage door. When the remote works the keypad does not and vice versa. I have a craftsman motor to open the door and a 976LM keypad remote. Please help.
This is what I found:
Quick Guide to Programming the Liftmaster 976LM
FOR MORE DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS, PLEASE SEE THE ABOVE INSTRUCTION MANUAL.
Press the “learn” button on the motor unit. The indicator light will turn on for 30 seconds.
Within 30 seconds, enter a four digit personal identification number (PIN) of your choice on the keypad. Then press and hold the ENTER button.
Let go of the button when the motor light blinks. This means thet the remote now works with your garage door motor. If light bulbs are not installed, two clicks will be heard.
TO ERASE ALL CODES FROM MOTOR MEMORY
To deactivate any unwanted remote, first erase all codes: Press and hold the “learn” button on motor unit until the learn indicator light goes out (approximately 6 seconds). All previous codes are now erased. Reprogram each remote that you wish to use.
