What is wrong with My Garage door opener?

I have a Chamberlain garage door opener that opens one large door (2 car). For some reason, my garage door doesn’t close in the morning! I know it sounds crazy. I live in Texas, and when it got cold (20 degrees) in the winter, it wouldn’t close until it warmed up…but it would only do it when it was cold. And I thought, I live in Texas and I’m sure they sell these up north, this doesn’t make any sense.

It sounds like a problem with the force settings. The cold weather makes everything stiffer. Depending on age, on the back side of your opener there should either be two white, or two blue knobs. If they are blue they should be set at a low number setting, if white they should be set to either low or normal. Try turning them up just a hair. Then check and see if you can hold them by hand with some force but not extreme amounts. Also make sure the door balances out disconnected from the opener.The door should be easy to open and close and you should be able to let go with door halfway up, and it just stay there with minimal drifting. If it is to heavy or to hot you should get the springs adjusted. Make sure there is no binding in door. Also lubricate all hinges, rollers, and springs. When lubing springs stay off the ends by 1 to 2 inches. DO NOT USE WD-40. Use motor oil or go get a good door lube. We use a multi purpose garage door lube by Fehr Brothers. Hope this Helps!
